Upcoming Hybrids 2022-2023

authorBy Aayush

The green revolution is inspiring many people to choose more ecologically friendly options, such as electric vehicles. However, the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market has left EV infrastructure development in the dust. While governments such as California, have generously provided a huge number of charging stations, making it easier to buy an electric vehicle, many others are still catching up.

Now here comes the Hybrids that can perfectly fill the void left by this lag in infrastructure development. They are more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly than conventional IC engines. PHEVs also offer the advantage of running on pure electric power and charging the battery directly, making the short trips completely environment friendly.

Here’s a list of the upcoming Hybrid cars for you which will make the transition from IC to EV cars much easier and smoother.

2023 Outlander PHEV

Mid 2022

2023 Outlander PHEV

This new gen Outlander will be seeing major mechanical and cosmetic updates and has been launched for the North American market.

The cabin quality and functionality are far superior to the previous generation, which appeared archaic and had an outdated 7-inch touchscreen.

You can set charging times and check battery percentage through the smartphone app. Mitsubishi has also included their Mi Pilot ADAS and Blind Spot Warning systems to ensure a safe and stress-free journey.

The 2023 will continue to use the old generation’s 2.4-liter MIVEC petrol engine but it will pack more punch for sure. The electric motors have been upgraded to provide 112 hp in the front and 132 hp in the rear. The battery has also been enhanced, with a capacity of 20 kWh as opposed to the previous 13.8 kWh.

It will compete with Toyota’s RAV4 prime, the Ford Escape, Hyundai’s Santa Fe and Kia’s Sorento.

Land Rover has finally unveiled their modern but still familiar looking range rover line-up for 2022. However, this year, we will only get the Supercharged V8 and the Twin Turbo Inline-6. Yay!

2023 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid

Between third quarter of 2022 and 2023

2023 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid

Kia plans to release the 5th generation Sportage in a variety of trim levels, including the much-anticipated Hybrid and PHEV models. It will go up against Toyota's RAV-4 hybrid, Mazda's CX50, Mitsubishi's Outlander, and others. The price of the lineup will be roughly $30,000.

The new Kia will have two 12.3-inch screens, one for the new digital cluster and the other for the center console touch screen. It will also include a blind spot monitoring system, which will display on the digital gauge cluster once the indicator stock is triggered. A 360-degree surround view display with four externally mounted cameras will be available to ensure that tight parking spaces and obstacles during mild off-roading are not an issue.

A 1.6-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor will power the new hybrid. A larger battery and a more powerful motor will be added to the PHEV. With this configuration, they claim a pure EV range of 32 miles.
